Competitive Cheerleading
 
			Full Year Competitive Teams
All-Star teams at Woodlands Elite Michigan begin in May and end in March/April each year. These teams have regularly scheduled practices twice each week and attend competitions from November through March/April each year.
We strive to have teams in the following divisions:
- All-Star Prep/Novice – A great way to experience the competitive atmosphere of All-Star Cheerleading with less financial obligations due to fewer competitions, minimal travel and lower uniform costs. All-Star Prep/Novice teams attend competitions within the state, some of which may require a one-night hotel stay.
- All-Star Levels 1-6 Teams – These teams will compete at 7 events each season with several of the events being held outside of the state. Several competitions will require a minimum two-night hotel stay.
- Worlds Teams – Worlds Teams are made up of elite Level 6 athletes ages 13 or above. We will have teams in several different Worlds divisions including the Non-Tumbling divisions.

This foundational tumbling class is perfect for kids ready to build strength, coordination, and confidence through movement. Designed for beginners and those with some experience, the class focuses on core tumbling skills such as rolls, handstands, cartwheel technique, bridges, and beginning walkovers.
With a supportive, skill-based approach, students will develop body awareness, flexibility, and control using proper technique and progressions. Classes include a dynamic warm-up, individual skill drills, strength-building exercises, and fun group activities to keep kids engaged and moving.
Whether your child is new to tumbling or looking to solidify their basics, this class lays the groundwork for safe and successful progression in gymnastics, cheer, or dance.

- Bridge-Down Kick Over – With coaches’ spot and mats; get familiar with skill; Start with a BRIDGE DOWN; after holding 3-5 seconds kick one foot over at a time making a “windmill” like motion; pushing the shoulders over the hands; landing one foot at a time with arms by ears and legs in a good lunge position.

- Handstand (3-5 Seconds) – Teach to start and finish with arms by ears and in the Lunge Position (Back Knee Straight & Front Knee Bent, weight equally distributed); Holding the body in a vertical position with straight arms and hands on the floor; both legs together in the air for 1 second trying to achieve a “Straight Body/Hollow Position.” Use coach’s spot, mats, or wall.
- Handstand Forward Roll – With the coach’s spot and mats; combining the proper HANDSTAND with a proper FORWARD ROLL.
- Good-side Cartwheel – Determine which side cartwheel is the strongest; Teach to start and finish with arms by ears and in the Lunge Position (Back Knee Straight & Front Knee Bent, weight equally distributed); teach proper technique with fingers facing sideways; kissing thumbs in a straight line; starting with “GOOD,” leg in front and finishing with “CRAZY,” leg behind; trying to kick legs with pointed feet straight over hands during the skill like a “Rainbow,” or “Windmill,” landing on one foot at a time.

Ideal for cheerleaders, dancers, and gymnasts looking to level up their performance, the class introduces skills such as round-offs, back walkovers, front walkovers, and handsprings.
Athletes will work through progressions that emphasize proper form, power, and precision, while continuing to build core strength, flexibility, and spatial awareness. Flyers will focus on body positions (lib, heel stretch, scorpion, scale, arabesque, etc.), stability drills, stunt sequences, and transitions with an emphasis on form, core strength, and safe execution. With hands-on guidance from skilled instructors and consistent work with seasoned stunt groups, this class helps build the confidence and technique needed to shine on the mat or field.
